Why Is Self-Correction Important to Self-Love?

Learning to love oneself takes self-correction.  Whenever we think of self-love, we think about doing things like,  prioritizing oneself being true to oneself being nice to oneself setting boundaries  forgiving oneself saying "no" taking a nap  taking a walk  breathing deeply sitting in stillness eating nutritiously emotional regulation making a gratitude list connecting with friends communicating honestly with others These acts of self-care are all part of growing ones self-love. Life may appear to be dark and against you but it really is not. Rev Micheal Bernard Beckwith states that 'darkness' can show up in three different levels.

1. In Gestation.
When you begin to receive and accept new ideas, the new idea begins to gestate. The idea is planted, just as a seed is planted, and begins to take form. And just as a seed need the dark to germinate, so does the idea.

2. Darkness that comes from deep cleansing.
This does not mean that we need to be cleansed because we are dark and dirty or full of sin. It is such that what we, at one time, identified ourselves with, that which we thought we were, we realize it was never us at all. This identity loses its power and begins to weaken. During this time we get confused because we are no longer who we thought we were.

3. The ego is temporarily blinded.
Through insight, revelation and realization, the ego gets temporarily blinded. It is not that the old is adjusting, it is the new you taking over. When you get flooded by the light, you go blind. The light blinds the old identity. Your eyes need time to adjust.

So don't be afraid of the dark. It is there to serve you and serve you well!
